GSC Commonwealt 54' Flat Car
GSC "Commonwealth" 54' Flat Cars have been in service since the 50s. Built around a large one-piece steel casting, the prototypes could handle a wide range of cargo and were often rebuilt for piggyback loading. In later years, they were fitted with bulkheads and handled loads such as lumber and pipe, and some lines added portable bunks for handling logs.

61' 8" Bulkhead Flat Car
This 61' 8" bulkhead flat car is painted box car red with white lettering. It is equipped with Barber roller bearing trucks. It was built in January 1972. Among Southern Pacific's biggest traffic categories for many years was lumber. In the 1960s, lumber began to be packaged with steel strapping and shipped on bulkhead flat cars. SP's first cars of this type were converted from conventional flat cars in company shops, and were used for plasterboard service. But standardized cars from commercial builders soon became dominant.

100 Ton Evans Coil Car
Angled Hoods -
Re-weigh Date : 4-71
1968 found the first 100 ton coil cars built to the fourth series specifications.
These cars can be easily identified as they have the straight frame while earlier cars(series 1-3) had a slight 'fish belly' or 'drop' frame. The type 4 design was in production from 1968 through 1975. Over 2,250 cars of this design with different covers (round, angled, corrugated and fiberglass) were built during this time period for many 'fallen flag' railroads such as the CB&Q, B&O, IC, RDG and SP (over 15 railroads bought this series of car).
